Gourmet burger

Northern Table


  •  2 pounds Alberta beef
  • organic spinach
  •  organic sprouts
  •  1 red onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese
  • local bbq sauce of choice or you can make your own
  • yellow mustard
  •  a dash of onion powder
  • 1 table spoon dried thyme
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup large flacked oats
  • 12 grain thin buns or whole wheat buns


prepare meat by placing it in a bowl with oats and 1 large egg. Add diced red onion, crushed garlic, onion powder, and thyme. Gently Mix the meat. Don’t overmix the meat. This will give the burgers a lighter texture and also prevent them from shrinking during cooking. Roll burgers into balls and slightly flatten.  Cook burgers. I choose to bbq mine. Gives it that nice smoky flavour. yum yum… While cooking coat with bbq sauce of choice. Place burger on buns with desired sauce and toppings. I enjoy some yellow mustard. Place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each burger with a desired amount of sprouts and spinach. enjoy.
